Therefore , there is a need to study the behavior of respondents in the actual setting which is the homogenous school Further , responses to this question is expected to be subjective personal and based on situations and social interactions among the subjects and the factors

What is the effect of a new teaching strategy on elementary school students ' arithmetic performance

The non-experimental quantitative research method is appropriate in this case because there is a need to manipulate the independent variable (new teaching strategy ) in to determine the arithmetic performance (dependent variable ) of elementary students

Does cognitive therapy or behavioral therapy work better for treating childhood depression

In here , mixed research is appropriate . There is a need to combine quantitative and qualitative research methods because first , it requires manipulating the independent variables --- cognitive therapy or behavioral therapy --- in to derive the better therapy for childhood depression . On the other hand , it also sees the need to consider the subjective responses of the depressed children because it will help in the understanding why the children became depressed . Thus there is a need to study the subjects in the context at which the behaviors are observed respectively

The qualitative research method , ethnography , is deemed appropriate for this particular study since it seeks to describe the culture of a group of people , in this case , the band at a high school in the local community . To know the real culture of the band , there is a need to collect qualitative data through interviews , participant observation field notes and open-ended questions

What is the relationship between the GRE and student performance in graduate school

The non-experimental quantitative research method is appropriate in this case because there is a need to manipulate the independent variable (GRE ) in to determine the student performance (dependent variable in graduate school

Do males and females have different performance levels in high school English classes

Mixed research is appropriate for this specific study . Quantitatively there is a need to manipulate the independent variables (English classes ) to determine the performance levels of both high school males and females . Additionally , the actual situation of the subjects must also be ascertained qualitatively in to assess why their performance levels in English turned out that way . This can be done through interviews , participant observation , field notes and open-ended questions
