In a week , the school year will end to make room for the summer break This is one vacation which I haven 't planned about . At this point , my life is completely full and overwhelming . Or so I thought . My husband Jack , a software engineer , spends more time in the office lately . Our daughter , Jamie and I go to the same school . She , as a second grader has been

busy with her school assignments and projects while I , as a guidance counselor , have been swamped with a list of reports for submission

With my family running on a routine like this for months , boredom and frustration have been lurking inside my head most of the time . I am satisfied with my life but somewhere deep inside , I know that I can do more satisfying if not fulfilling stuff . Sometimes , at work , I just look out the window and get lost into some day dreams . I keep on thinking about taking a break even for just a couple of days to go to a beach plunge into the water , savor the wind and enjoy the scenic beauty . I also want to take a long and deserving sleep at home . But I know it 's just not possible . Our home is a mess . Leaves have been strewn all over the backyard . Every now and then , I have to clean the house because the family 's adorable and playful mutt , Spike , turned the place into his personal playground . My flower beds are in disarray . Even the house 's caretaker , an old timer named Mona , gets into fits of anger over the dog 's behavior . Sometimes , I have to be patient enough not to create an outburst every time I go home to find my flower vases broken , or my rug filled with mud , marked with Spike 's foot prints . What gets me more frustrated is the thought of managing my family and professional life with little or no consideration at all from the rest of the family . Jack goes home to eat and sleep while Jamie is tucked early in bed if she 's not reading or watching television . Spike continues to run rings around the house . Even the weather in San Antonio at this time of the year is not cooperating . It 's wet and raining all throughout and that makes it hard for all of us to go to school , to work and to do some shopping . Not to mention , mud will be all over the place again with our playful Spike in full gear

Only on my desk in school do I get the time to clear my thoughts , and put things into proper perspective . Sometimes , I get to thinking that maybe I 'm just trying too hard , or I 'm just spreading myself too thin Maybe I need to get more involved in the lives of my...
