From a series of interviews that she conducted about the beating of Rodney King by the local police , Anne Deaver Smith creates Twilight : Los Angeles in 1992 . The said event became a turning point in the history of America . Issues about membership , racial discrimination and justice permeated communities , and triggered turbulence when the reaction of the people involved burst out

If I were to

choose an interview from the play , I would most probably choose that of Mrs . Young-Soon Han . Although most of the happenings involved the African and American society , the Koreans who owned the stores outside the trial court were also one of those who were truly affected by the riots . To think that the event caused great damage to her means of living , I was amused by the fact that she didn 't have any feeling of anger towards the Africans , rather , she felt sympathy for them . Thus , I would start off Mrs . Han 's story with her last memories of her store , with her all smiles in promoting her liquor products . In between her narrations regarding the riot , I would put it in a chronological way from the point where a buzz about the trial was spreading throughout the place
