We are living in a dangerous world . Criminals all over the country prowl on innocent victims , thus putting the people of the public at a constant state of risk . While there is no sure fire way to end violence and the committing of crimes , public surveillance is a logical option in combating the threat of malicious acts against the people of our country . Robberies , assaults , and homicides , as well as dozens of other crimes , do not

have to happen , and our government has the means prevent them . However , there are people scattered about our nation who shutter at the thought of this type of video surveillance without considering the harmful and often deadly effects of trying to put an end to it Public video surveillance however , is the only way that our government can ensure the health and well being of American citizens against vicious criminals

For the safety of our country , public surveillance is of utmost importance . By allowing the government to regulate the use of video cameras , we can be much safer from criminal attacks than we would be by doing nothing at all . When there are cameras in place to capture every move of potential rapists , kidnappers , and murderers , we are considerably safer from harm . Furthermore , should violence take place the police have a means of catching the people who committed the crime This type of surveillance is not so invasive that it affects our daily lives , but it is persistent enough to persuade criminals to think before they have the chance to hurt others . Without public video surveillance we have no way of safeguarding American citizens from crime , and usually no means of catching the suspects who commit them

If we support public video surveillance , it is likely that these unfortunate criminal attacks will come fewer and farther in between . For instance , think of young children . Children will act well behaved so long as their parents are near them . However , when their parents leave the room , chaos ensues . The same goes for criminals . No car thief in their right mind would attempt to steal a car if they knew before hand that an alarm would go off . Criminals do not commit crimes in places where they know they are being watched . Rather , they plan the crimes they will commit by scoping out the places where there are no cameras to catch them . If we remove the cameras that currently protect us , more crimes would be committed in public places
