For Margaret a diagnosis as follows seems most appropriate . According to the DSMV-IV-TR the diagnosis for Margaret would look like this

Axis I - 296 .23 Major Depressive Dis , Single Episode , Severe

without psychotic features

Axis II - V71 .09 no diagnosis

Axis III - no diagnosis

Axis IV - Occupational Problems--Unemployed

Problems related to social environment-- Failed Relationship

Economic Problems - no income

Housing Problems - lack of permanent residence , living with

mother

Axis V - 75

There are many conclusions that could have been made about Margaret 's diagnosis . Her

Axis I diagnosis could have been Bipolar 2 Dis most current episode depressed . This would be because she has described a very full life prior to being depressed and therefore she could have been experiencing a period of mania at the time . Also , the diagnosis for some type of alcohol problem could be assessed and added as part of Axis I . This diagnosis has not been included in this area at this time as Margaret has not had a full alcohol assessment to assess her current drinking habits and whether or not there is a problem . There does not seem to be any personality diss or any medical diagnosis . Since there are no medical problems and no personality problems there is no reason to reevaluate the Axis II and Axis III diagnosis . As for her Axis IV diagnosis , there could possibly be some other issues that could be apparent and might need to be dealt with however these seemed the most important at this...
