My gold made cold folder

They stole my gold made cold folder

Enclosed in it my endorsed enforced achievements

Mother had smothered my unbothered self

Fathomed my sloathed attitude

Poked , forked , and worked with me

I fell , she yelled not

I was mocked , she rocked with me

I took it all , from small to tall

I danced and paced

As the cheered and peered at me

With a gait and bait in hand

I walked and talked

But all that a core no-more to adore

It

's a past lost in vast memories

A sonnet is a poem of 14 lines in English that has stressed syllabus in each line and a fixed pattern of rhyme through to the end

In the above sonnet the main theme is about how one loses what is lives most treasurable . The character in the poem has lost a folder which contained all the credentials that he had worked so hard for

In the second line enclosed in it my endorsed and forced achievements ' shows that it was a struggle whereby he even had to force himself to go through in to achieve these certificates . This is a clear picture of how even in ordinary life we all go through perseverance , through think and thin in to get something but I the end the unfair life take it away

It goes on to highlight that the loss is not just his alone but his mothers too . Mother has smothered my unbothered self ' this shows how we share our losses with the people around us who had been supportive through out our hardships to gain a certain gold

The poet also reminds us on how a pride comes before a fall . The character had displayed just before his folder was stolen with a gait and bait in hand I walked and talked ' when we achieve our goals sometime we let ourselves go and bride takes over instead of working on how to take care of our achievements

The writer teaches how a loss can be avoided if we kept focused just like when we were working for the achievement

Language is well used in this sonnet as there is creation of patterns of sounds with the rhyming words . Alliteration which is the use of the same letter or sound at the beginning of words that are close together is used throughout this poem . For instance enclosed in it my endorsed and forced achievement ' This makes the poem move with a flow as it being read out

Another good feature language usage in this poem is the use of assonance effect . Assonance effect is created when two syllabus in words those are close together have the same vowels sound but different consonants or the same consonants but different vowels . For instance on line five poked , forked and worked with me

Metaphor is the imaginative use of a word or phrase to describe something else to show the two have the same qualities . .my gold made folder ' means that the folder is not actually made of gold but it is valuable to the owner as gold is in terms of value to a merchant .poked , forked and worked with me ' The mother did not actually poke on her child affairs but is shows how extremely concerned she was with the work of the child to the levels of checking out each and everything concerning the achievements of the goals she had set for her child

.With a gait and bait in hand ' the bait is the certificates , it is refereed as the bait because it was the soul reason for the hard work to get that `bait ' that would be used to hook him for a job (meaning the certificate were useful to the character to obtain employment

I am because I 've been

I 'll shine today

And mine is tomorrow again

You stare in awe

With a dare devil attitude

For a new task to prevail

So you can bask to my defeat

Your frowns are a pain

My crown 's a stain

You so dream to erase

But cannot trace it

I hid it

In a bid to escape

Your glaring envy

Which is scaring me so

The theme of this poem is envy . The choice of words brings out this theme clearly as features that support the presence of envy in this poems setting is very vivid . The tone in this poem is one which brings out very as friendly and insecure feeling . The character in the poem is not happy though not sad he is one who feels that all eyes are on him for the wrong reasons . He feels surrounded by people who are watching him wishing he would fall . you in awe with a dare devil attitude the theme of envy is clearly captured in this words which clearly give us the feeling of the an easy relationship between the character and the others

The choice of words used in this poem brings out the character as one who has become tough with time after facing the envious friends fro a long time I am because I 've been and will always be seen ' this words highlights the effects of envy which is the main theme in this poem . The characters personality as one who fears are also highlighted your glaring envy which is scaring me so

The choice of words bring out the point of view clearly , the use of I ' makes the leader connect easily with the character of the poem and the theme too . The leader feels the envy that the character is facing from the others . It is easy to connect with the them because the words used assist us to learn how the main character feels about him and how he feels about the others . The character is sure about himself I will shine today , and mine is tomorrow again ' and he know that his friends are unhappy for him so you can bask in my defeat ' the choice of words makes the theme come out clearly through the use of figurative language

The metaphor such as my crown`s a stain ' does not mean that the characters crown is actually stained or dirty at that . It brings out the similarity of a stain to the crown from the point of view of the others . The others hate the characters victory so much and dislike his crown at an equal measure . Figures of speech also highlight the theme through use of words like as you await to bask in my defeat ' the literal meaning of the word bask is to enjoy seating by the fire or lying in the sun to feel the warmth . This word when used in the poem shows how the envious friends will so much love it when the character lost his championship to one of them

The impact of the words choice is evidence on the support of the theme of envy as we see exaggeration your frowns are a pain ' There is no pain frowning but the friends are actually feeling bad that there character is ever winning and they cannot help frowning every time he takes the crown
