The First World War had devastating effects to many countries in Europe and the world at large . Many lives were lost and massive destruction of property occurred during this war that brought many changes in the world . Some of the changes that came with this war is prolonged period of suffering of the people of the nations that were involved in the war

The war that ended in 1918 brought a revolutionary wave all across Europe . These revolutions were

directly a product of the First World War . The most notable of these revolutionary activities took place in Russia (Spielvogel ,Jp234 2006

This revolution was caused by a number of factors . As the war came to end , countries we coming in to terms with the realities of the outcome of the war . People themselves had become tired of this warfare and were looking for something to keep their mind away from the bad memories of the war . There as widespread weariness o the entire population of Russia and Europe at large . This was coupled by the fact that Russia military had been defeated this not only lowered their morale but also had an impact on the soldiers ' performance

During the war period most economic activity including farming had a low input or in some cases halted completely . This was a serious situation as mot countries depended on agriculture for the provision of food , with the end of the First World War reality was biting , the slow recovery of the agriculture from the impacts of the war meant that most nations were faced with food insecurity (Wildman , A , 1980 p45

The food prices skyrocketed and starvation was a reality . This lead to constant strikes in Russia and some other parts of Europe . The army was also affected as there were desertions . Mutinies were also experienced in Russia where the soldiers not only abandoned their duties or joined the civilians` in defying the authorities

The morale of the army was low as they lacked the basic equipment that was necessary for their work . Food to them was also a problem

The officers were not motivated . Perhaps this explain the reason why the revolutions were a success especially the Russian revolution which was unrivalled by any other in Europe (Fitzpatrick , S 2001 , p345

Workers dissent was registered in many countries in Europe , they contributed a lot in the revolutions they organized strikes that forced the authorities to act on certain issues . Labor unrest started way back during the war period , political decency was also experienced along side labor unrest but no major success was registered

Many countries were faced with emerging movements . These lobby groups were socialists ' movements . The response from the governments was swift as they tried to repress these movements .thruogh military rule censorship and issuing emergency powers .
