World War II
World War II has become known to history as the Good War , a war that was fought for justifiable and moral reasons , that was fought to bring about something good in the world and that America was the country that brought about the victory for the Allied nations during the second World War . This era when American troops were saving Europe from the empirical desires of Adolph Hitler and his Nazi Regime has a certain nostalgia about it when Americans look back at it , and this is partially why World War II has

been referred to as the Good War
The title of the Good War ' is appropriate in some ways because of the way Americans view the war itself . World War II was fought to keep Hitler from creating an empire that spanned all of Europe and threatened the safety of millions of people , and even though it was not widely known then , the war would result in the stopping of the Holocaust . The Second World War is a war that changed the way the world was and changed the position of many countries in the world , including the United States , but more than anything it was a war that most believed was completely justifiable and was fought for all of the right reasons People feel that the soldiers who sacrificed during this time were doing so for the good of the world and to save the world from a terrible fate brought on by Hitler and the war in the Pacific
To believe that this war was the good war , however , is to believe that war is , at any point and time , justifiable and to disregard the fact that thousands , if not millions , of people were killed as a result of the war . The people killed by the nuclear bombs in Nagasaki and Hiroshima were casualties of this war , as were the many soldiers from all over the world who died . No war is truly the good war ' because no war sees no casualties...
