Introduction to the

The workplace is a very sensitive area for all kinds of minority groups as well for individuals because this is the place where different kinds of individuals from varying backgrounds combine and collaborate with one another in to achieve one goal . The main objective of this is to emphasize on the three discriminatory policies that are observed in my office in respect to handling these individuals

The three discriminatory policies that are observed in the office are sexual harassment , networking and job sex /race segregation . The

remaining of the will describe the following concepts in greater detail

Sexual Harassment

Since there are only two girls in the department that I work in and five guys , there are a number of instances when my male supervisor would ask each girl to visit his room for a certain discussion and then take advantage of the girl by simply getting a little physical such as picking a up at the same time and then touching her by a coincidental accident

Networking

Another observation in the office is that there is a large amount of discrimination that is done on the basis of networking . Within the department , there is a chance that the head of the department may have brought along an employee through employee hoarding and this would cause the head of the department to have better relations with him . However in my office , it will be observed that the employee will not be rewarded on his performance , but rather on his relations with head of department and the number of hours he spends each day talking with the head of the department

Job Sex /Race Segregation

Another policy that proves to be discriminatory is that there are a number of tasks in this department that can be done by both females and males . For instance , since this is a Corporate Banking Department in a local bank , there are a number of times when the relationship manager needs to go visit the client in for some specifications . However this is done only by men and not by women because according to the head of the department , only the men seem to have the corporate look and essence to attract the client for a longer term relationship

Conclusion

There are a number of other policies that would hurt the motivation of employees and hence cause them to increase turnover . However , there is no solution that can be introduced to these problems till the employees are willing to work towards reducing such issues
