Procedure

The teacher displays a game board and gives detailed instructions so students can create their own game boards

Students are placed into groups of 4 . Each group receives tag board , a list of phonemic elements to include and a die . Each group works together to create their game and construct game markers for each player . The students are to draw a margin (approximately 2` ) around their tagboard . Then they divide the margin into spaces large enough for inserting the phonic elements for practice . On the corners and in several spaces between corners , insert penalties and rewards , such as `take another turn` or `move back three spaces .`

After the game is completed each group works with the teacher to make sure that all phonemic elements are included
