Women have come a long way in terms of politics , profession , and sexual freedom . Hence , in almost all aspects of society , women are relatively seen as equals . Yet , despite what seems to be a success story ' that is the feminist movement , the truth is women have a way to go before they enter the promise land of equality ' as Susan Faludi appropriately ends her introduction to her book Backlash : The Undeclared War Against American Women

The progress of

women is evident . For instance , women today can now exercise their right to vote , whereas in the past , women were not allowed to vote . When the government initially allowed for women to vote , only women in their thirties and older were allowed to vote , and the woman voter had to own a home before she was allowed to vote .The voting age for women was then reduced to twenty one . Another major success that the feminist movement achieved is women 's increased access to education and work previously attributed only to men . Women before were largely thought (or decreed ) to be just homemakers now , women are relatively shoulder to shoulder with the men in the work place . However these success stories are sadly delayed when it comes to black women Black women 's rights , like their male counterparts , were not given priority as much as the whites .
