Why radical change of oppressive structures is necessary for woman empowerment

Women 's empowerment is the process through which women are able to become knowledgeable active and goal-oriented . Women 's empowerment is focused on achieving gender equality in the society . It is also aimed at assisting women take control of their own body be able to make decision on their own in the past , women have been denied equal access to facilities such as schools and hospital

and hence these oppressive cultures should be eliminated . Women have the same right to access education just like the opposition sex . Despite a number of women having the opportunity to access education , they have been denied employment opportunities under the belief that women should not have equal participation with men in the society . Our cultures have established gender stereotypical roles and norms which denies women equal participation in societal leadership and decision making . Education , a sector in which women have been progressively oppressed is the main form of women important cultures which discourage women education should be abolished in the society because they make women feel inferior and loose sense of their rights . As a result , women become less involved in societies most important activities . Radical change of these oppressive structures ensures women participation in societal leadership , decision making , equal access and control of resources and above all , they gain control of their own bodies and thoughts (Mutari , Figart , 2003

A project which promotes collective empowerment of women

Habitat is a development project which goes beyond individual empowerment to promote collective empowerment of women . This development project stresses the need for women participation in the plans project This project enrolls women in architectural engineering and its fields and they are assigned to policy-making and decision-making positions This way , the shelter needs of women are assessed and incorporated in housing and community development . In this project , women 's groups and women are made equal participants and beneficiaries of the housing projects . Women are fully consulted on the technology of construction of the facilities and maintenance . Women are given the responsibility of heading the education and training programs on housing in their communities (Fisher , Ponniah , 2003

This development project gives more attention to women who are bread winners of their families . It focuses on designing low cost housing and facilities for these women . This project promotes the right of women to own property and establishes programmes which increase the possibility of other sources of income . Women are also provided with maintenance and construction management skills in to understand the full concept of the project

How to make radical changes for women empowerment

In to make radical changes in our stereotypical societies , I will encourage women in my neighbourhood to create a sense of agency which is a core factor to achieving women 's empowerment . Both individuals and collective capacity is required in the agency for a variety of skills and capacities . Women 's...
