I . Introduction .
``We make a living by what we get , but we make a life by what we
give . this is the famous words of Winston Churchill . All of us know
him as the good leader and talented speaker . Much in his life amazes and
admires : the faultless political intuition , ability to understand
people , fine oratorical abilities and uncommon oratorical talent would
make Churchill the outstanding statesman during any epoch . But he had
the chance to live in the period of greatest in the history wars and
revolutions , and these rough years when the history course abruptly
varied , all these qualities were developed in him most brightly .
So what were Winston Churchill 's leadership traits ? Are his leadership
principles what "leadership is all about ? In order to understand
Churchill 's leadership one must understand both the situation that
Churchill was in during his life .
Biography
a . Early years
Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill came of a military dynasty . His
ancestor John Churchill had been created first Duke of Marlborough in
1702 for his victories against Louis XIV early in the War of the Spanish
Succession . He was born in 1874 , 30 November , in Blenheim palace a
patrimonial estate of an aristocratic family Marlboro located in a
picturesque corner of England nearby to a city of Woodstock that in
earldom Oxford shire .
Churchill 's father was the well-known political figure in the country .
He headed Conservative party of Great Britain and at one time held a
post of the Minister of Finance in the government of conservatives .
Winston 's mother , lady Churchill (Jenny Jerome , was the daughter of the
American businessman . She was very beautiful and smart woman . Being the
wife of the well-known politician , she had the set of secular duties
therefore Winston saw her not more often , than the father . In many
years Churchill will write about mother in the book of memoirs "She
seemed to me a bright evening star . I loved her very much and admired
her , but , as all heavenly bodies , on the distance "
At the age of 12 Churchill was given to study in Harrow - school , one of
the oldest man 's exclusive private schools of England . After Churchill
left Harrow in 1893 , he applied to attend the Royal Military Academy ,
Sandhurst . The educational institution was chosen by his the father ,
Lord Randolph . Military traditions in a Churchill 's sort were old and
very strong . In the end of 1894 , Churchill was appropriated an officer
rank of the second lieutenant .
From this moment Churchill started to build his life , which brings him
the title of one of the greatest leaders .
