Effects of globalisation and industrialisation , especially in the developed countries , have had a great impact of the economic growth of most business organisations either directly or indirectly . The increased concerns for environmental conservation triggered by cases of global warming and climate changes have compelled many companies to adopt strategies aimed at achieving a more sustainable development in our economy . Sustainable development refers to the act of maximising the utilisation of available resources to meet the needs of the current generation , without compromising the ability for future generations to meet their needs .
