William Blakes view of Emma Bovary from `Madame Bovary`
October 6 , 2008 Essay Madame Bovary William Blake 's View of Emma Bovary In the book , Madame Bovary , the author Gustave Flaubert depicts Emma Bovary as a character who is frustrated with her ordinary life with her husband and breaks all the rules in her quest for a life that is more fulfilling than what she had been accustomed to William Blake is a writer who is certainly religious in his views . I would imagine that William Blake would have been disappointed in Emma Bovary 's ideas and the way

she went against everything that was taught about how women should behave in this time period
The poems by William Blake depict more romance that is traditional and pure , unlike that of the character , Emma Bovary who was wild and careless in her manners toward romance . Blake brought forth purer messages in his writing that was so different from the story we read in Madame Bovary . William Blake would have never agreed with this sort of character that left her husband in search of a more provocative lifestyle where she abandoned all that she had promised in her marriage to Charles . Blake held his own marriage to high standards and it his words of love and romance , in his poetry was easily connected to the way he felt about his own wife and marriage . Emma Bovary was much different from Blake 's wife and with his strong religious views about life and how romance should be . Emma Bovary would have never matched up to what William Blake wrote about in his poetry and writing and he would probably view her as unruly and wild
