William Blake 's Poem Tyger ' is a poem which asks the question which

everyone has asked since we first found out that a God did exist . Why is there so much

bloodshed and so much pain in the world if a benevolent God does exist The Tyger ' in

the poem , like in life does not answer this question of faith . It is this completely

satisfactory answer to this eternal question of faith that is the basis

br of the poem

The poem begins with Blake asking the fearsome tiger what kind of being had

created it . From what part of the cosmos could the tiger 's fiery eyes have come . Each

stanza contains questions , which refine the first . The speaker of the poem wonders how

when the horrible Tyger 's heart began to beat , where the creator had the courage

continue the job . Blake compares the creator to a blacksmith , and thinks about the anvil

and furnace that the project would have needed as well as the smith who used them and
