Research in social norms shows that ethnic and gender differences exist between White , Latino and African-American communities . Minority communities have more teen pregnancies and unwed mothers , a fact which strains on the social fabric of them . Recent data show an increase in teen pregnancy rates giving more cause for concern President Obama 's focus on responsible fatherhood ' seems a

direct attempt to influence these norms thereby discouraging teen pregnancy Data from the South where teen pregnancy rates are higher and sex education is not promoted also suggest that an emphasis on sex education and making contraceptives available to teens could be effective in reducing teen pregnancy rates
