Web 1 .0 and Web 2 .0 explored Within a short span of fifteen years , the Internet has magically transformed the way we look at

the world . It has dramatically shrunk distances across the globe and connected even the most remote , obscure and uninhabitable terrains seamlessly with the world wide web . Hailed as the most significant cultural and technological revolution in generations , the power unleashed by the World Wide Web has conjured up such a brilliant technological magic which was unimaginable even two decades ago The Birth of a new Era This technological miracle has however been the genius of one man who had the vision to transform the world "Unlike so many of the inventions that have moved the world , this one truly was the work of one man . the World Wide Web is Berners-Lee 's alone . He designed it . He loosed it on the world . And he more than anyone else has fought to keep it open , non-proprietary , and free . It 's hard to overstate the impact of the global system he created . It 's almost Gutenbergian . He took a powerful communications system that only the lite could use and turned it into a mass medium (Time Magazine Tim Berners-Lee an alumnus of The Queen 's College , Oxford hit upon this brilliant idea in 1980 when he was working as an independent contractor at the European Organization for Nuclear Research , commonly known as CERN . Lee proposed a project based on hypertext to enable sharing and updating among researchers within the CERN intranet . Later he built a prototype of his system named ENQUIRE - first bit of Enquire code led me to was something much larger , a vision encompassing the decentralized , organic growth of ideas technology , and society . The vision I have for the 'Web is about anything being potentially connected with anything . It is a vision that provides us with new freedom , and allows us to grow faster than we ever could when we were fettered by the hierarchical classification systems into which we bound our-selves .
