OSCE and its activities
1 . Russia is now a first world country . The destructive years under Yeltsin are now behind us , and Russia is a dominant economic and military force in the Eurasian lands . The victory last year in Georgia proved that , and proved that any hostile coalition of forces operating within Russia 's near abroad will be repulsed . Given the west 's weakness economically , now is the time to use Russia 's power for its own purposes within the very halls of western power . The OSCE is one of the most important elements in this approach
2 . The first major area of discussion is in the military sphere . The OSCE has developed its own approach to military related problems throughout Eurasia . Russian can benefit from all of these . Arms control is central . While Russia is already a major arms supplier , it remains that other hostile states are increasingly building up armaments that threaten Russian space .
