Why is Marlow interested in Jim?
Jim had been daydreaming about becoming a hero which constantly happens until a worst case scenario enters the scene . Marlow began to realize the story behind the aspiration of this man , Jim , after he met him , and heard what could have been the source of his own attraction . The big question now is why Marlow becomes curious and interested with Jim The story instigated when Jim abandoned a ship called Patna as he cowardly decided to jump after all the officers , including the captain had abandoned a sinking ship that didn 't sink

At first Marlow is not lenient and is very keen in looking for clues for doing his narrative about Jim but had become interested eventually as he was inspired by the reason behind the acts of Jim during the misfortune of Patna . His affection grows stronger when he talked with the French lieutenant , where he understands that human fear becomes the factor why Jim 's step had to be excused . However , Marlow did not show his feeling and still becomes neutral at all times . He analyzed every event that happened but is also frustrated with Jim 's immaturity .
