Coursework : Why Can 't I Leave You

To annotate the poem

Why Can 't I Leave You ? 1

You stand behind the old black mare , [with deeper meaning]

Dressed always in that red shirt , [with deeper meaning]

Stained from sweat , the crying of the armpits

That will not stop for anything , 5

Stroking her rump , while the barley goes unplanted . [the buttocks]

I

pick up my suitcase and set it down

As I try to leave you again . [with deeper meaning]

I smooth the hair back from your forehead

I think with your laziness and the drought too , [with deeper meaning] 10

You 'll be needing my help more than ever

You take my hands , I nod

And go to the house to unpack

having found another reason to stay

I undress , then put on my white lace slip [undergarment] 15

for you to take off , because you like that [with deeper meaning]

and when you come in , you pull down the straps [with deeper meaning]

and I unbutton your shirt

I know we can 't give each other any more

Or any less than what we have 20

There is safety in that , so much

That I can never get that , so much

That I can never get past the packing

The begging you to , if I can 't make you happy

Come close between my thighs 25

and let me laugh for you from my second mouth . [lower part of female organ]

To make an exegesis of the poem

Lines 1-4 : Why can 't I leave you ? You are wild and intense , always standing behind me - an old black mare - sweating hard with your armpits full of sweat

Lines 5-8 : Your sweating will not stop , as you stroke my butt , before you plant seeds on me again . I decide to stand and leave , while I then pick up my suitcase

Lines 9-12 : But as I stroke the hair from your forehead and think about your laziness and that shortage of your sperm , it is enough reason for me to stay and help you all the more . As you take my hands , I acquiesce to your request

Lines 13-16 : I start to unpack my things , since I just found another reason to stay , and that is , because you still needed my help . I put on my white lace undergarment because you loved to take it off me

Lines 17-20 : You come inside me , as you pull down the straps of my slip while I unbutton your shirt . I cannot give you back anymore , and nor could you . I couldn 't give you less than what I have nor could you either

Lines 21-26 : That alone brings us to safety , as I cannot bring myself to do either of those . I cannot get past my packing , especially when you beg me to allow you to come between...
