Why according to H. Balthasars Prayer is contemplation necessary?

The idea of contemplation is that of a support system to be able to breathe meaning and life into the word of God . It is not merely enough to listen to the word of God and to pray during the mass , what is more important is for Christians to be able to take with them and practice in their day to day living the true lesson that God wants us to learn . A person who is in full concentration through talking to God allows the former to receive insights and ideas about how to properly live his life according to the teachings of God . The true test of living the way of God is not merely attending mass , giving contributions to charity or doing volunteer work for the church . A person is really living a spiritual life when he or she chooses to do things when other people are not aware of it , when he or she does it in silence with only God as the witness . Service should come from a deep desire to honor and worship Him and not for an individual 's own selfish reasons .
