p Michael Porter has put forward a most famous matrix for competitive positioning which is known as `Porter 's Generic Strategy Framework This framework is based on two dimensions that result in the competitive advantage , one is cost and the other is differentiation . The matrix is as followed This matrix shows that there are four possibilities of competitive positioning in organization is broad and the aim is to gain cost advantage through producing at comparatively lower rates . This is the one that suits Whirlpool the best , keeping in view its recent strategies and maturing white products markets .
