Where Does Morality Originates

In the last thirty years , there has been a great battle : a battle of ideas as the most important question is asked : Where does one 's morality come from and to what degree , if any , should that such morality affect the public square ? Is morality subjective only to be defined differently within the recesses of each person 's own mind or are there absolute truths which should be encouraged to stand the test of time These are all important questions which , as fallible human beings , there will never exist a universal consensus about

This perhaps , is the down side to being given the freedom of choice by our creator in the sense that absolute truths , is in the eye of the beholder and is sometimes subject to the ever changing stimulus of popular culture . In that sense true morality can never be found , despite the belief that it can and that somehow , what is right today , might not be right tomorrow and that we as a people , are not poorer because of such beliefs . This is one of the greatest fallacies which serve to impeded the continued greatness of America and its people

The current stat of American morality , as sad as it is to confess , is perpetual . That is not to say that we as Americans should hope that our country should never change and improve . That is far from the reality of the situation . However , those who attempt to combat the ever changing moral relativism are often labeled as close minded and an enemy to diversity and free thinking . In a country where our greatest exported has changed from goods and services to popular culture , Americas now receive their morality from the media , television , movies and popular culture . In that sense , morality originates , at least the morality of the West , originates in what is made popular and can be seen as a tool to increase the comfort of those who would engage in its enticement Those who believe that morality originates with their definition of the world of God they will have a very different opinion about where the beliefs of right and wrong are to come from . And there lies the major difference regarding where the origins of morality originates
