However , the Germanian Tribes have migrated to the areas in the Danubian and Rhine bs , and incursions across these bs have increased . This took a toll on the Empire 's coffers and a lasting peace was not secured . The 3rd century was characterized by political unrest and no ruler was able to control the Barbarian invasion . Cities were sacked , Barbarians moved within the city walls , and Rome became geographically divided . This signaled the fall of the Roman Empire...
