Web Security
Introduction We can not deny that we are in the middle of ongoing information revolution that is fast shaping the way on how people live . This era moves in a fast pace manner . What used to be a novelty like the Internet is now part of everyday life of common people . We see thus that everyday-people , defying geographical setting , is connected and there is an avalanche of information coming from all direction , overwhelming yet at the same time useful for the growth of the human race . There is now a new role

and tasks that must be filled in : that is how to manage this information explosion and protect architecture with which this new technology runs
Information management right now is considered a new vocation . It must be done with deft expertise on the way information and data move in the skeletal architecture of the Internet . For an information administrator it is not enough that that he knows how to use the Internet . It is not enough for him to just sit in front of his computer , pound on his keyboard and get the solutions for the problems and challenges of his job . There is more to this role that is asks from him
The questions that plagued him are by the basic questions : how and what ? How do the digital veins of the Internet work ? What are the underlying operational systems that work within these veins ? How can this network protected from unscrupulous people . These are just some of the basic questions that he must address to get on and fulfill his role as an informative information manager
It is then the of this to explain with natural clarity several aspects of Internet protection that is vital and at the same time vital for the protection of the general public who uses the Internet
Packet Filtering Router
First the packet filtering router is a hardware that plays the role as an examiner of sources or destinations of addresses and ports of incoming TCP and User Datagram Protocol (UDP ) packets . The router directs these packets through the firewall or blocked basing on the security policies defined by the packet filtering rules . Packet filter routers are traffic enforcer who has a say as to who would be allowed to pass through the network . The router examines the flow of IP packets and only allows which among these packets can pass through between trusted and untrusted network . The packet filter router can be considerec as the first line of defense to any possible network intrusion by hackers
Packet filtering routers are also able to detect and process through filtering illegal packets (Zwicky , Cooper Chapman , 2000 . These illegal packets are usually misformatted so the routers deny them of service . These packet filtering routers have reliable TCP /IP application and are very well placed in the network that functions as a security against any possible intrusion . But before we can understand fully appreciate the role that packet filter routers do for the...
