Those two incidents changed the face of war , as we know it and sparked a world wide nuclear arms race with the two tightest competitors being the United States the then existing Soviet Union . nuclear arms treaties were set in place with the United Nations and various other organizations in to insure that such catastrophes would not be repeated in the future

Unfortunately , not all nations think alike . Even though the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty has set guidelines for the Disarming of Nuclear capable nations , allowing only 5 nations to develop nuclear technology for non-violent means , there will always be rogue nations who wish to hold the world hostage with the threat of nuclear war . It is imperative that these weapons of mass destruction all be found and destroyed because in this century , the 21st century , the world is trying to attain world wide peace , understanding , camaraderie , and brotherhood by turning the world into a Global Village . In the 21st century utopia of a global village , nation 's opinions and beliefs are respected and countries find a way to meet each other 's demands and differences halfway using discussions , treaties , and organizations , without dropping an ounce of blood

This is why no country in the world should take the threat of the weapons of mass destruction being developed and secretly tested by rogue nations lightly . The nations of the world are one in saying that it must be stopped . This can be done through international agreements and treaties that centralize on disarmament and or development of nuclear technology for peaceful means such as energy conservation and medical science

There is a tremendous problem with regards to controlling the spread of nuclear arms . This problem was fuelled by the very situation that sought to solve the problems of the world by promoting a global village . During World War II , the United States was viewed as the foremost world power because of the way it won the war . Russia and other small countries equated the nuclear arms of the United States with worldwide power and domination . Countries like North Korea and Iran have a misguided belief that possessing such arms means that they too can claim the right to call their country a super power . Globalization of business has also made it much easier for terrorist groups to obtain and manufacture their own nuclear arms on a smaller scale . The biggest threat posed by these rogue nations is that they can and will sell their developed nuclear technology to the highest bidder .
