However , it is needful to take stock of the fact that these investigations on the Watergate Scandal was nothing more than a Pandora box that betrayed a wider spectrum of crimes , abuses , political campaign fraud , political sabotage and espionage , other illegal break ins , wide scale illegal wiretappings , inappropriate tax audits , and subsequently the appropriation and forwarding of slush funds that were laundered in Mexico as payment for those who executed these operations .
