Water Movie review reports
However , in this film , we can see that discrimination is not only limited to women of the right age , but also to children . One character Chuyia , is an eight year old widow sent to the ashram to atone for her sins as well . Despite being a child , she 's already put in a situation where she will not be able to enjoy her childhood and be secluded from the whole society . The film effectively portrayed the playfulness in Chuyia which gives a feeling of uneasiness because in her young age she 's left

in an institution that would just waste her life
Another concern that the movie touches on is alienation or seclusion from the society . We all know that Hindu culture have caste systems with some castes getting alienated from others . The film however , gives emphasis on alienation brought about by widowhood . This is a degrading form of alienation because even at a young age , women who lost their husbands gets secluded from the society , making amends for the sins they have committed in the past life . Their culture dictates what they should do , and even if it 's against their will , they still feel compelled to do so . Alienation is supposed to be a form of repentance for sins in their past lives . We can 't blame them because it is their culture , but still it is really hard for women to suffer such fate Because of their strict compliance to their culture , the more they 're burdened , abused , and saddened
Deepa Metha 's Water ' is really a good example of the discrimination abuse , and sadness of Indian women back in those times . Some of these practices are still evident in the present , but now , more and more people learn about these situations . Hopefully , educating other people could...
