Abstract

Hurricane Katrina is one of the largest natural disasters that have been experienced in the world . The victims of the hurricane were dissatisfied by the treatment and aid that they received from differently but more especially from the government . Early warning systems which had been put up were able to forecast and predict the hurricane though they under estimated the damage . The information from the systems was not properly utilized to effectively assist the victims of the hurricane . As

a result the damage by the hurricane increased and more lives were lost . Proper plans were not made , resources were scarce , and there was lack of coordination among the different agencies and a break down of communication . These were some of the major problems that hindered the effectiveness of the rescue and recovery operations
