Introduction

The Iraq war popular to the United States military as the operation Iraqi freedom and operation TELIC by the United Kingdom army which began in the year 2003 was a way by the US to combat global terrorism . The war started on 20th march with the coalition of the US troop and the UK troops with support from Australia , Poland and Denmark determined to fight terrorism that is connected with the al Qaeda based in Afghanistan

br and Iraq (Thomas , 2006 ) The main reason that the US government provided for the attacks however was that , Iraq had been developing and possessed weapons of mass destruction . Nuclear weapons were believed to be prominent in the Iraq military and were used to support terrorism highly feared group of the al Qaeda that is led by Osama bin Laden (Michael 2006

The refusal of the Saddam government for inspection of weapons by a US weapon specialized Richard Battler was a trigger to the suspicion that Iraq was in possession of dangerous weapons of mass destruction

Iraq war and Terrorism

The war on Iraq was a major influence on global terrorism . It reduced the levels of terrorism in the world especially against the US Terrorism attacks on the US embassies in Nairobi Kenya and Tanzania as well as the twin towers in the US were some of the terror that the al Qaeda had laid against the US

Iraq war opened a new down for terrorism as the universal attitude of the Muslims across the world against the Americans and their close associates changed for the worse . The Muslim community all over the world assumed that the fight against terrorism was no longer but it was fight against the Muslim . The war that led to the defeat of the President Saddam Hussein 's government and the United states took over the security in Iraq . These caused fear among the citizens who had lost their families , relatives , husbands in the military which gave the Muslims not only in the Middle East but also in other regions of the world a different perspective of the Americans

The war in Iraq saved the world against terrorism by destroying the Iraq state which was sponsoring terrorism and also the destruction of the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD ) that were alleged to terrorism . Thou Iraq had ceased in its manufacture of the WMD after the suctions put against their economy , fears to resume to their continuing development after the suctions posed a threat of future terrorism attacks (Dominic 2004

The war was a success in the fight against terrorism as there were many al Qaeda leaders that were arrested during the operation in the Iraq war . These arrests reduced cases of terrorism against the US but resulted to terrorism in other parts of the world including the Middle East , Africa , and south East Asia for example the terrorist attack of Bali in Indonesia , and also in Russia . These attacks however have been less severe to inflict magnitude destruction in the affected places like they were before

The Taliban regime that was removed from Afghanistan by the US forces reduced their effect as they had a strong state based operation base in the country this has reduced the terrorists attack to the United States and the World at large . However the Afghanistan government was weakened and could not manage in the suppression of Warlordism in the country which might result to the re establishment of the Taliban group (David 2006

The America war on Iraq also acted as a warning to the other terrorism supporting states of Syria and Iran . The fear of operations in their countries has contributed to these states suppression of their weapons and support of terrorist attacks in the world

Since the defeat of Saddam in the Iraq war , there have been a number of Muslim Nations that has shown friendship to the US because the policies that were used by the Saddam government were not acceptable to all Muslims including in his own country . In fact the majority of the populations in Iraq were against Saddam 's regime as it was oppressive to their human rights and had also led to economic suctions that affected the country (David , 2006

The Iraq war led to the violation of human rights as the majority of the people who died were innocent some had been forced to participate in the war against the US forces . Women and children were the most affected The aftermath of the war was marked by humanitarian aid in Iraq and reconstruction of the wreck that was left after the war (Iraq after war was like a wreck . This process of reconstructing Iraq was done by the US government which helped to improve the relationship between America and the middle east and the Islamic community as a whole since they learnt the motives of the US was to get them out of suppression . This way the terrorism attacks can be reduced as the gap between the Americans and the Muslims continues to narrow as they interact freely with each other in the healing of the war torn nation

Conclusion

The anti terrorism action that was taken by the US was highly criticized by the public from the Islam community and the world as it did not protect the innocent people during the war . The future strategies to combat terrorism should look into the issue of understanding of the ideology of the Islam as hostile militants to be a misconception and should deal with individuals or groups that are fueling or support terrorism in the world . The perception that the Arab Muslim is a terrorist is in fact a way of worsening the current situation o0f terrorism as it may lead to all the Muslims turning against the world that might lead to an endless war like the one between the Israelites and the Palestinians (Honderich , 2006

To realize an ideal strategy against terrorism , the US should be based on building a consensus and promote international cooperation strengthen laws and rules and giving the Muslim 's states a moderate voice to negotiate for peace . In this way terrorism can be a long time gone history
