Wal-Mart has been an object of criticism ever since it became the nation 's biggest retailer . Activists , communities , and business and media critics found it easy to target Wal-Mart because the corporation is obviously the one there on top , occupying a rank six times higher than Target . Looking from a perspective of a local ordinary citizen , we see the giant Wal-Mart as an oppressor , a conniving executive who violates the rights of the people and the environment With the presence of its subsidiaries in almost every corner of America it is indeed

easy to say that Walmart must have probably abused countless employees and community laws the entire time of its expansion and birth since the early 60s . While Wal-Mart is there on the spotlight sitting arm in arm with both its success and criticisms , Target is enjoying its less-criticized image and thus grabbing almost every opportunity to make its store more pleasant , more environment-friendly and more stylish than its larger competitor . The result was a more pleasant , more environment-friendly and more stylish retailer than Wal-Mart

According to an interview of Scherzer (2006 ) with author Fishman comparing revenue of the two in the last four quarters , Walmart has a staggering 316 billion while Target has only 55 billion . There isn 't much to explain between the large difference of money rolling in considering Wal-Mart 's larger operation both in and out of the country and its non-stop expansion of retail stores nationwide . To have a better chance in competition against Wal-Mart , Target improved polished , and furnished its image to the people . They have achieved their goal as the classier store than Wal-Mart . Even without looking at the logo outside an establishment , a customer could definitely tell if he 's inside Target or Wal-Mart . Target 's interior projects an upscale theme , attracting more middle class and even upper class customers . It was simply a store designed for an upscale customer , who appreciates more a sophisticated design and style of business . Target , shall we say , is more ly and less chaotic than Wal-Mart . They have a closer if not intimate , relationship with the media evident through their presence in business advertisements . In fact , people see Wal-Mart as less friendly to the media , an attitude they were now trying to change Target was the philanthropist between the two and the company that has been deeply admired for its system of security and protection . They look after the workers , customers , and products ' welfare by working and cooperating with the law , thus , making their reputation a profitable asset for the company

People go to Wal-Mart because of its cheap prices . Wal-Mart was more like a store for both urban and non-urban customers . Customers could buy more here in a less amount of money . Prizes are affordable and they boast products that you can 't get anywhere else in cheap prices Because of that , a Wal-Mart store could attract more customers resulting in a busier shopping environment that is not so pleasant and calming at all...
