World War I left an interesting legacy that has been debated time and time again by historians and lay men alike . Many have argued that the war caused quite a few countries to have broad changes and left the culture right for World War II a few years later . For some countries that were involved in the war , the legacy that it left behind was very interest and could be described as mixed . Some good things came about as a result of the fighting , while some countries suffered the costs that

the war presented all across Europe . Ultimately , those differences combine to create the legacy and shape the memories that people hold about World War I

The immediate costs of the war were and remain easy to measure Hundreds of thousands of people were killed , with both civilian and military casualties being extremely high for just about every country involved . Germany had been stripped down to the bare bones , so they were looking for someone to blame and someone to lead them . Hitler and his fellow leaders provided both of those , blaming the problems of Germany on the rest of the world and giving the Germans a hope for the future . It is well documented in history that the Nazi party did not turn out well for Germany , nor for the rest of the world

Another extremely important resulting action that came from World War I was the Russian revolution . Directly following the war , much of Eastern Europe was hit with a large amount of communist thinking . In Russia this meant a complete change in government philosophy .
