Vulnerable Populations : Homeless Veterans

Vulnerable populations are groups of people who are incapable of deciding for themselves , incapacitated to live independently , and those with highly specialized needs that should be addressed . Homeless veterans are an example of vulnerable populations , including children prisoners , pregnant women , people with impairments and disabilities etc . These groups are included in the scope of vulnerable populations However , in this research , the demographics and the present state of homeless veterans shall be explored and analyzed . Learning that the veteran population is part of vulnerable populations is surprising and

br alarming . It is common knowledge and only logical that they be living a well and prosperous life as compensation for the service that they have rendered during the war

Most people would think that it is the government 's responsibility to provide for their needs , in to give back to the veterans what is due to them , now that they are incapable of taking care of themselves Ideally , veterans , as well as the underprivileged for that matter should be provided housing grants , retirement fees , pension plans , 100 percent employment , and even free health care , by the government . These services are highly needed because there are great health risks that are involved when going into war , such as suffering from stress or trauma physical disabilities , etc . These conditions , for instance , limit productivity thus leading to unemployment . If these veterans stay unemployed , they are unable to care for themselves and their family . In this case , it is the responsibility of the government to see to it that veterans are granted the kind of life that the government and nation owes to them . Moreover , the government should be sensitive about their needs and assistive in addressing the pressing needs and demands of the veteran population . However , looking at the present situation of the homeless population , it is quite surprising to find that most of the homeless are veterans who are unable to take care of themselves , own a shelter , be employed , etc

According to the National Coalition for the Homeless , almost half of the based on an estimated number of homeless veterans who roam around the nation , there would probably be 200 ,000 veterans who remain homeless every day . Most of the homeless veteran populations are Caucasian and are highly educated . Moreover , most of them may have or are currently married .
