Violent games , as well as television programs and movies depicting violence , could also promote desensitization . With continuous exposure to violence , an individual may no longer be greatly affected by violence he sees in real life , having accepted such acts of violence as part of daily life

Addiction on Media and Gaming Violence

Video gaming and watching television and movies are pleasurable experiences , and so may be addictive

just like any other occasional hobby . Words such as couch potato ' and television addiction ' are already widely accepted by the public , and are used both positively and negatively . In video gaming , about 12 of gamers satisfy the requirements for game addiction (Grusser , 2007 ) indicating its pleasurability . However , the fact that these activities are fun and pleasurable does not mean that censorship should be lifted on violent electronic media . Although the cases of addiction on such materials are quite few compared to other obsessions , and their effects not conducive to aggression or violence , the combination of violence and addiction may produce great emotional impact on a person . Various methods of entertainment has been made available in our modern society , but no good parent would want any children or the youth to be exposed to or be obsessed with seemingly innocent pleasurable material associated with violence
