Even way before the period of colonization , Vietnam has already experienced series of partition caused by wars . In the Trin-Nguyen War Vietnam was divided between two ruling families with Gianh River and Quang Binh Province as the b separating the territories of two ruling families . Between the period starting from 1954 to 1975 , Vietnam was again divided into two separate countries with Ben Hai River at the 17th Parallel as the b that separates the two nations having a

br distinct government . Actually , the Vietnamese nation originated in Red River Delta , North Region of Vietnam and expanded towards the South Region through the so-called southward march . Experiencing long years of separation with distinct government , North and South Korea suffered from various cultural differences in terms of traditional clothing , and cuisine . They also have different climate and linguistics Due to these differences , many are saying that the Vietnam War is a war between two countries and not within a country

The purpose of this is to determine if whether Vietnam War is a war between two countries or not through critical analyses on various differences between North and South Vietnam . At the end of this expect for a conclusion on the above subject matter

Difference in Clothing

North and South Vietnam have different set of cloths that oftentimes serves to identify which region a Vietnamese came from . Like for the case of Ao Tu Than which commonly associated with the North Vietnam while Ao Ba Ba is associated to South Vietnam . Though these cloths are worn across different regions in Vietnam , they are also serves as a symbol of different regions of the said country . Even in Central Vietnam , there is distinct clothing that emerged due to the rise of Vietnamese royal court in the 18th century - Ao Dai

Difference in Cuisine

Cuisine is also one of the cultural differences between North and South Vietnam . Most of the famous dishes of Vietnam originated in North Vietnam since it serves as the `cradle ' of Vietnam civilization while South Vietnam 's cuisine was influenced by southern Chinese immigrants therefore , South Vietnamese prefers sweet flavors in most of their dishes . On the other hand , Central Vietnam has a different cuisines compared to North and South Vietnam due to its royal setting and uses small side dishes with distinct spiciness compared to counterpart cuisines in North and South Vietnam . At the end of the day , North and South Vietnam still remains separated in terms of culinary preferences that eventually leads to distinction between the two regions

Differences in Linguistics

People from Hanoi , the national capital and the largest city of Vietnam located in its North Region , pronounce certain letters different from people living in Saigon , South Region 's largest city .
