Introduction Vietnam is one of the most beautiful nations in Asia . Its history revolves around wars which were internal and some external . This essay digs deeper on the causes of these wars and how they came to end . How politics and military played an integral role in these wars . Then it will feature how the Americans came into the scene and later lost . as an independent state . Even though Vietnam was independent their former colonizers were in but the French were quick to agree to the terms that were set by officials from the Vietnam side . The west was not happy with they way the French were conducting their business in Vietnam and this was enough a recipe for the later conflict within and without Vietnam . Thus the Vietnam wars or conflicts were the most ravaging warfare in recent times . The wars dragged on as the united front had mobilized many people to fight the French . Geographically there was North and South Vietnam . The major wars were fought between 1954 and 1975 between the northern Vietnam which was a communist state and the southern Vietnam which was backed or controlled by the United States . North Vietnam wanted to fight the southern part and get united as one communist state . However , in December 1946 , the war to resist the French started but most of the cities had been and were captured by the French . Many Vietnamese of various nationalist groups were massacred . This assault never deterred the remaining nationalist group members from their resolute of fighting the colonizer but they changed tact and started to fight guerrilla warfare . The Chinese authority by then supported the Vietnamese to fight off the French and a large number of young men who were not communists contributed a lot and they defeated the French . The French rule came to an end during the 2nd World War in which Japan got a chance and invaded the country .
