The Vietnam War during Nixon presidential from 1969-1973

Thesis

The Vietnam War is classified as one of the hardest wars that American found itself embroiled in . Of the three presidents that reigned during its course Nixon turned out to be the hardest hit . Nevertheless through various strategies the president was able to find the solution to the whole problem albeit after a series of protests that saw his ratings dwindle . The catalyst to the

cessation of the involvement of the Americans was brought about by the president desire to remain in power

Introduction

The Vietnam War is rated as one of the deadliest wars that American has ever fought . At its peak an average of 1 ,200 American soldiers were loosing their lives per month attracting great opposition at home and seeing the popularity of the president dwindling at an alarming rate By the end of 1968 an approximate 536 ,000 soldiers were in Vietnam fighting the war (Robert D . The political problem that faced the president was more complex and he sought to buy time ' to understand how to handle the whole issue and at the same time maintain public support ( HYPERLINK "http /www .vietnamwar .com " http /www .vietnamwar .com

Towards this end the president applied four strategies that included (1 ) Vietnamization

This strategy comprised the reduction of the rates of American casualties including the number of combat troops in Vietnam . Nixon was on the idea that the South Vietnamese should assume more roles in combat , thereby eliminating...
