Situational Theory : This theory is used to illustrate how a burdened caregiver might end up abusing the elderly . Indeed , the current situation in America 's elderly care is wanting . Many are the care centers with more seniors that need help , while the number of caregivers remains minimal . This is worsened by the rapid rise of seniors flocking nursing centers due to the retiring baby boomers . Their number has especially been rising rapidly . On the contrary , the country has been experiencing a decline in the number of nurses to attend to the seniors as well as serve in other areas of health care industry .
