Imagine yourself in a hospital setting . You see a doctor giving medical instructions to the nurse on the care of one of the patients . You see the nurse listening intently , taking down notes , giving feedback to the doctor based on her conversation with the patient , and at the end asking the doctor if she got all the instructions correctly . The nurse after preparing the medicine and other medical procedures , then proceeds to the

patient 's room and performs the medical procedure entrusted to his /her by the doctor

What if the nurse did not listen carefully to the doctor 's instructions What if the nurse did not give the right appraisal of his /her patient 's condition ? What if the nurse did not confirm with the doctor if he /she got the doctor 's instructions right

The situation I described earlier is a typical situation in a hospital setting where people 's lives are directly involved . One has to be an effective communicator to be able to relay one 's message across without or at least , lessen the misunderstanding and confusion . One has to be able to give and receive messages in a clear , concise and accurate manner
