Introduction

Virtual private network (VPN ) is a network that

utilizes public telecommunication infrastructure , to offer multi -located individuals and offices a secure access to the network of the organization . VPN is described as secure private tunnel where several devices can communicate in a public network , in essence therefore VPN encapsulates information exchange between connected equipments in different networks so as to ensure the privacy of data that passes through the public telecommunication such as the internet . Organizations are adopting VPNs due to various benefits such as cost savings due to decrease of equipment and maintenance costs

Security of the data on the VPN is of importance due to the utilization of heterogeneous public network , since the Internet is used as the backbone for VPNs . In structuring VPNs there are several considerations due to the diversity of VPN categories such as Trusted VPN Provider-provisioned VPN , Secure VPN and hybrid VPN .
