INTRODUCTION

When a Workforce 2000 Report first coined the term "diversity " in 1987 , it soon

became a buzzword . This report forecasted that before the turn of the century

eighty four percent of the entry-level workforce would be made up of females and

minorities . And , among the surprising projections were the following The once White male dominated workplace will be reduced to only 15 percent of the 25 million people who joined the workforce between the years 1985 and 2000 . For , the balance

of 85 percent would consist of white females , immigrants , and male and female minorities of black Hispanic , and Asian origins . Therefore , the business leaders were persuaded that they must prepare their companies and employees for the enormity of these realistic demographic changes . As a consequence , the stage was set for the development of diversity departments and the creation of diversity training programs (Haines , 1997

And , a major focus of the problematic 21st century will be the crisis of diverse , often-competing social /cultural identities among people literally uprooted by corrosively powerful global economic combines . This cultural diversity crisis will be significant not just in itself , but because it has the direct consequence of undermining coordinated resistance to the destructiveness of global systems of power (Childs , 1998 . Also , the organization must survive in this world where their competitors are unceasingly barking at the organization 's doorstep ready to take away the customers . And , the members of the organization must understand the preferences and needs of its diverse customers base . To survive then , the Hawaiian and other organizations should study and improvise its strategic management plan of the different ethnic and cultural groups that go beyond race and gender . In to maintain and widen its regular customer base , the management of business should rely on a conglomeration of ideas

Furthermore , many people grow up in Hawaii who are prefer to call themselves as half white or half Japanese . For , many Hawaiians are ashamed of their Hawaiin culture and upbringing . Many Hawaiian girls prefer to marry either a Japanese boy or a non-Hawaiian boy . Non Hawaiian boys are called haole in Hawaii . The culture is that the girls do not want to marry their Hawaiian friends because most Hawaiian boys end up working as janitors or airline porters .
