Introduction

Since around a century now the United States Army has the distinction of remaining the single most powerful military force in the world . It has been involved in countless successful operations throughout the world in most difficult and adverse situations against most ruthless and determined oppositions . US Army has been instrumental in defeat of the Axis Powers in the two World Wars , protection of South Korea from North Korea , protection of Serbians in the

Kosovo conflict and in establishment of democracy in Iraq . However , more importantly , it was also instrumental in Civil War victory , a feat that saved the structure and form of United States as a nation . It is the purpose of this work to briefly showcase the changes and transformations that this elite and proud force has underwent since its most important mission almost 150 years back to the present
