LESSON PLAN DURATION : October 2007 CLASS : Contemporary Issues SCHEDULE : Monday Friday NUMBER OF STUDENTS : 30 (3 :00 PM - 3 :45 PM Language Level : intermediate level in EAP prep : Challenges and Responses to Environmental Degradation Rationale This course seeks to give students a holistic idea of the problem of environmental degradation in the world . This subject seeks to enlighten students of the detrimental effects that man has caused the environment in its aim for development . The lesson will look into the literatures that are currently available to deal with the issue

of environmental degradation . The initial parts of the lesson will focus on the issues and problems behind environmental degradation . In the latter parts , the lesson will look into the efforts used to combat the problems caused by the abuse of man in the environment . The s that shall be discussed are held every Monday and Friday from 3 :00 PM to 4 :00 PM for students who took the contemporary issues class
Course Objectives
The instructor 's aim is to let students cooperate in class discussions With this , the instructor will use several teaching strategies to foster a collaborative effort of learning . These include reporting , peer review , written s , discussions , and examination . At the end of the course , all students are expected to have a firm understanding of the issues regarding environmental degradation as well as knowledge in the initiatives to address these problems
Communicative Aims
Students are given the opportunity to explore ideas given by the course Their participation shall be in form of group reports and peer reviews Each lesson there will be groups who shall be reporting on the assigned s per day . Also , students are expected to submit reaction s per session in response to the lesson discussed for the day . In addition , students are expected to actively participate and voice out concerns regarding issues during class discussions
Linguistic Aims
This subject is aimed at making students understand the important environmental terms that will help them throughout the course . Each important idea /s will be emphasized in each to give the students an idea of the subject that shall be discussed and also give the students the opportunity to choose on what issues can be reported in class prior to the approval of the instructor
