Fishes have different vertebral column . The vertebral column of fishes ranges from the most primitive to the most complex . Different vertebral columns include the most primitive notochord , the cartilaginous vertebral column of the chondrichthyes and the of osteichthyes . Fishes also have different skulls . There are three types of fish according to the skull : the jawless fish , cartilaginous fish and bony fish fish can also be classified according to the appendicular skeleton .
