Media is known for reaching a large number of persons at a go and also transmitting information non selectively , meaning that , at times the information might land at persons who were not targeted . The information that is received from media sources influences the individual thinking in the sense that , other persons are likely to put the informations from media into practice . The putting of media information into practice normally follows a definite trend across the various age groups depending on their respective life experiences . The older persons in society are believed to be having more life experiences and in that sense , they stand a better chance of making more rational decisions compared to the youths who have little experience , otherwise , the youths stage of human development is full of adventure about them trying to understand what is good or what is wrong . Therefore , the youths are likely to put the information from media in practice more quickly compared to the adults who have a more life experience in choosing on what is right or on what is wrong (Mueller , 1999

The limited life experience of the youth is likely to lead them into making irrational decisions on what is good and on what is wrong therefore , they are likely to pick the personalities portrayed in media for their own something which is likely to pose challenges to the society because it is not all the traits that are promoted in media that are socially correct as per the given particular societies . Some programs might be designed for a certain age group in society , for example the family issues including the sex issue .
