Union and Management Role in the Labor Relations Process

Trade unions and the management of an organization are key participants with a critical role to play in the labor relations process . Without their cooperation , human resource management would be hard to implement in organizations . Unions represent employee interests , while management will comprise of individuals appointed to protect the interests of the owners

Unions in most cases are used as tools for social change and they have a large impact on productivity among the employees . On the other hand managers in organizations

are also interested in anything that helps to increase productivity . By working hand in hand with unions representatives , employee turn over rates decreases and this leads to better standards in job production within the organization . Both unions and organizations will be involved in providing welfare services , not just to their members , but also within the wider community in the society for example giving the disabled opportunities to work flexible or part time jobs , supporting charitable organizations through corporate social responsibility etc .
