by the United Nations Educational , Scientific , and Cultural Organization . Galbpagos Islands have unique ecosystems with diverse native and endemic species of flora and fauna . The Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF ) was set up to address protection and conservation concerns of Galbpagos Islands . CDF collaborated with the national and local governments , Galbpagos National Park Services , other organizations , volunteers , and local residents to move forward its mandate . Although there were signs of progress on the efforts made , Galbpagos Islands still face the same challenges that threaten its biodiversity : invasive species , growing but irresponsible local population , illegal fishing , global demands for tourism and marine resources , and conflicting interests of various stakeholders . Doubling the current efforts , stewardship by all stakeholders and a stable national leadership will speed up the process
