Running Head : `Turn off the TV ' Public Relations Effort `Turn off the TV ' Public Relations Effort Name of the student Student number Course Date Your name here Resident Creedmoor 13th September , 2008 To Mayor Moss Dear Sir Re : `TURN OFF THE TV ' PUBLIC RELATIONS EFFORT I am writing to present a `Turn off the TV ' Public relations effort to the residents of Creedmoor to stop watching TV for at least a month due to the implications which come along with the practice . Studies done reveal

that TV watching has many negative implications for instance it makes participants lead sedentary life leading to obesity , eyesight problems and hormonal imbalances (BBC News Channel , 2007 . Many people from all age groups spend a lot of time watching Television allocating less time for physical exercises which is detrimental to their well being (Kerns , 2007 . For example , children have been known to skip their duties and chores to watch their favorite programs some of which erode their ethics and morals . Studies done show that , Television is responsible for the increase in obesity , diabetes , sleep disruptions and at times may also trigger autism in children (Gosline , 2005 . Children who grow up watching too much Television may not have the sense of responsibility to work hard in school or even in their self development and hence not take part in the building of the national economy Diseases as a result of much Television watching such as discussed above lead to a lot of strain in the part of parents and the governance in reference to the financial resources employed to treat and manage the diseases . Creedmoor stands to benefit a lot with inclined levels of Television watching by children , parents and the community at large . For example , parents could use the time spend in watching too much Television to help their children with homework or spend more time in parenting and ensure that they instill good morals in their children . On the other hand , children could spend the time consumed in watching Television to help in household chores and studying and hence grow up into responsible adults . Creedmoor cannot be argued to have realized its full potential economically and socially and from my analysis the major reason is that the local community watches Television too much . In the light of the above , the residents of Creedmoor can be convinced to stop watching Television for one month and the results measured . Using various literatures on the negative implications of too much Television watching , it is apparent that too much Television watching is harmful to health of the local residents of Creedmoor and action should be taken to reduce the negative implications . Thanks in advance
Yours faithfully (Your name here
