Visiting the Tuberculosis Clinic , located at 15 Waller Street , Austin is really an unforgettable experience . When I went there , I came to know more about health nursing and how vital it is to every people 's life

Having the opportunity to visit the Tuberculosis (TB ) services at the Austin /Travis County Health and Human Services Department was really an exciting experience for me . I was so excited because part of my public health nursing clinical rotation

is to visit that place . I really like the idea to experiment on visiting different places and learning more about public health nursing practices . One of my dream career is to be in such place and take care people like the patients on that place . I assisted one resident nurse there for at last four hours and I was able meet other doctors , nurses and laboratory technicians who are working there

People in the clinic were really friendly and well organized when it comes to their job . They even taught me on things that they do and how a typical day goes for them in the clinic (insert name of the nurse that you assisted ) and I had a wonderful day working together . I can see based on my observation that he was very comfortable with the system and flexible enough to make him self available for every patient that is in need of his help . I admire his dedication to his job

The Tuberculosis Clinic is is equipped with complete x-ray facilities , an isolation chamber for sputum collection , and a special ventilation system to protect persons from infection while in the clinic . I am also fascinated by their system since they are not only concern about their patient 's health but also with the people working for their company and at the same time the people who visits their loved ones

The TB screening is also made easy by the clinic because of their Skin Test screening which is facilitated by a nurse and asks patients with the aid of a questionnaire . After completing the interview , the result will be discussed after 2-4 days only . Health satisfaction is guaranteed in this clinic for them is their best asset in giving best service to people

In times that patients are scheduled for chest x-ray (patient with positive skin test , they will assist you right away and the result will be evaluated by a physician within20 minutes or less . That day gave me an opportunity to see the different responsibilities of people working for public health centers . I was able to see the big difference of patients who are screened or personal consultation inside the clinic and those people who are screened outside and lives in depressed areas

When it comes to terms of payment , TB treatment is provided at no cost to the patient of Tuberculosis Clinic in Austin . If blood tests are needed , these are done at the TB clinic but still there...
